During our toolbox session number 4, we got inspired by the pictures we took in the museum last week, I choose to go to the science museum. Due to the different types of influence, it can have on my creation. The goal of session number 4 was to create a piece of artwork that refers to the pictures we took. The collage we created is unique and very special to everyone. We all had different inspirations, influences, and work materials (primary research).
For my collages, I was inspired by three main topics, automobile and the evolution of it, space and all the space evolution of humanity have developed, and finally the war in Vietnam from 1955 to 1975.
For that task we had to understand that everything we create has to be away from the body it is called a silhouette.
The first collage was inspired by the evolution of the automobile, by putting together a garment with different parts of a car, including accessories such as bags and hats. The garment is a dress that reveals the belly and has a naked back. The dress is made of recycled leather for the seat of the car. In order to get the exact same image as the picture I took, I would be using UV ink to create the pattern. UV ink is a flatbed printing system, in order to keep the print and have the best quality work.
For my second creation, I have created a collage relating to our planet and the impact of us humans on ecology. This collage is lingerie for men. The reason why I choose to create men’s lingerie is that man lingerie isn’t put created much and we hear a lot more about women lingerie than men. The boxer is repressed by our planet earth, and the man has a big neckless which says, “green up your act”. This neckless is a poster I found in the science museum.
The third collage is dedicated to the war that happened in Vietnam in the late ’50s to the early late ’70s. The garment is a two-piece creation, with include a hat. The hat is the head of an animal upside down which symbolizes the fact that during any type of war we kill which other us human just like we would kill any other type of living creature on earth. The garment itself is a two-piece kind of dress. The top part of the dress is an American airplane, and the down part of the dress is a picture that got taken during the war. The image had kids running naked for the soldiers trying to kill them. Yes, it is shocking, but this is what still happens in the world. Wars are still happening, and we kill humans just like we kill animals.
We then had to do crockeries of which collage we have made. These 3 colleges are what I have done in class I have unfortunately haven’t had the time to finish the 5 of them.
I really enjoyed doing this collage it was fun creative in new. I had to use different skills including my sense of styling, and good communication skills in my collage.
